Finally tried my J frame Crimson Trace Handgun Grips...

The good news is they work great, exactly as advertised. I've never shot such tight little groups at ten yards with my S&W 342pd. I was able to easily see the laser even though it was bright and sunny outside this afternoon. The bad news is recoil was much worse. It's amazing how much recoil the rubber factory Handgun Grips absorbed compared to the Crimson Trace hard plastic Handgun Grips. I was finally able to get ahold of some Speer GoldDot 135gr +p bullets and shot a few today and they really stung. I have nothing but respect for you guys who can accurately shoot .357s out of these little snubbies. Overall I'm very happy and impressed with the Crimson Trace Handgun Grips and would recommend them to anyone.

I have looked real hard at those Handgun Grips for my steel frame j's, but have never broken down and done it. One time I was sure I was gonna get em and the dealer was out. Now if they would make them with a rubber covering instead of that cold hard plastic.......BTW, what kind of plastic is it? would it crack or shatter if you dropped the gun?

Posts: 204 I replaced wooden Handgun Grips on my J frame with Crimson Trace hard Handgun Grips and couldn't tell any difference in the recoil department. I prefer the hard Handgun Grips over rubber because the rubber Handgun Grips don't come out of a pocket without some extra effort, seems to really drag. Mine are a little over three years old and still have the original battery.

Posts: 96 I'm with Steve! I only carry a 442 (.38Spl only), but if you pocket-carry, the rubber Handgun Grips aren't what you want. And CT isn't making the polymer Handgun Grips anymore, so I think they will acquire some extra value.
Of course, one can always figure a work-around. I love the CT's - I have rubber for my S&W-66.

Posts: 19 Hey guys, my crimson trace Handgun Grips i put on my Beretta Border Marshal 40 are "wrap around rubber" and are great for keeping the sting out of recoil. Ane they do work great for us older guys that have to wear glasses full time.

They're made out of some kind of polymer material. They seem pretty tough and I seriously doubt they would break if dropped. They do make some J frame Handgun Grips made out of "combat rubber" (model #LG-305), but I went with the polymer ones since I pocket carry and like someone else already mentioned, the hard polymer is better for drawing from a pocket. The polymer Handgun Grips were also a lot cheaper than the rubber ones.
