Replacement Wooden Handgun Grips For My SW629
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Does anyone know who makes custom wooden Handgun Grips for the S&W 629 ??? Right now I have the stock wood Handgun Grips on mine, but I would be interested in finding some dark hardwood or even pearl Handgun Grip.
I hate those Hogue rubber Handgun Grip, as well as those odd-shapes Handgun Grips that look like a tear-drop. I am simply looking for a run-of-the-mill wooden grip to replace the factory wooden grip. But something that has a bit more pizzazz and quality than the factory pieces.
Thanks so much.

Posts: 2,300 Eagle Handgun Grips has a line of different materials.
Ultra Pearl and Ultra Ivory look close to the real thing, are stronger and less expensive. But not at all cheap. And made only in "regular" style which means they do not fill in behind the trigger guard like S&W target Handgun Grips. If you want that you can get their oversize Handgun Grips in rosewood or ebony or their
Heritage Handgun Grips in rosewood.

CAUTION: All I know is what I see in their advertising, don't use them myself.
Hogue makes wood Handgun Grips but they are all the same basic design with bottom attachment. At least you can order wood Handgun Grips without fingergrooves.

Herretts will make Handgun Grips to fit your hand, send them an outline. Most of their stocks are walnut but they will do some other woods.

Posts: 2,382 Numrich had some NOS Handgun Grip in walnut recently. CDNN and www.jgsales.com had NOS/used take-offs from S&Ws also. I use Eagle Handgun Grip. I prefer their older N frame wood Handgun Grip. I like the old "coke bottle" Handgun Grips also. Eagels' Heritage Series are good. The faux pearl Handgun Grip are nice and need just a little fitting.

Posts: 55 Those Heritage series Handgun Grips from Eagle look great...just like the old S&W Handgun Grips from the 60's and 70's. Eagle's literature states that S&W phased out those Handgun Grips as a cost cutting measure, which doesnt make any sense to me. I mean, how much money is the company saving by leaving that top part of the grip behind the trigger filled in? Seems like it would cost more to mill it out, doesnt it? But then, it wouldnt be the first example of poor decision making by Smith & Wesson. Anyway, I think Id like them made of something other than rosewood, such as a grey/green laminate or maybe black micarta. Does anybody know if those Handgun Grips will fit the M629 Trailboss? I wouldnt mind owning a set...not that I dont like the rubber Hogues with the finger grooves that came with the gun.
